About regional groups

To facilitate collaboration between country alliances, we have four regional groups covering Asia, East and Southern Africa, West and Central Africa, and Latin America and the Caribbean.

About the SUN Civil Society Asia Coordination Group (ACG)

The SUN Civil Society Asia Coordination Group (ACG) was established in 2017 and now boasts 13 CSA representing over 1200 members. The regional coordinator sits in Pakistan, hosted by Nutrition International. The ACG has provided a common platform to different CSAs for coordination and cross-learning. The ACG has undertaken knowledge exchanges, organised joint advocacy messages and contributed to the SUN Movement strategy, and hosted regional meetings.

About the East & Southern Africa Civil Society Nutrition Network (ESA)

The East & Southern Africa Civil Society Nutrition Network (ESA) was established in 2017 and has grown to 18 CSAs representing over 1400 members. The ESA CSN has continued to strengthen coordination for joint advocacy by national CSAs and meet the critical need for policy engagement  and communication support to position nutrition  as a key development issue. The network is established in accordance with and governed by the provisions of the constitution that was developed by the members of the regional group.

About the West & Central Africa Regional Group (WCA)

The West & Central Africa Regional Group (WCA) established in 2013 when Action Against Hunger decided to gather some nutrition civil society of West Africa in order to have a discussion group, annual meetings, and organize capacity building of CSO in the region. In 2015, during the SUN Global Gathering, the decision has been taken to have a formal group in West & Central Africa. The region has 21 CSAs representing over 1400 members. They have undertaken various projects as a region, such as an annual capacity building workshop, networking and information sharing opportunities, developing common advocacy activities, support for grant writing.

About the Latin America and the Caribbean Group of the Civil Society Group (LAC)

The Latin America and the Caribbean Group of the Civil Society Group (SUN CSN LAC Group) was formed in May 2015. CSOs saw the importance of organizing a specific group in the region because there are issues, such as the double burden of malnutrition and anaemia, that are specially relevant in the Latin American context. They have 7 CSAs who represent 31 members. The CSAs have been sharing updates and running knowledge sharing sessions on coalition good governance, advocacy for SMART commitments, youth engagement for nutrition advocacy, budget analysis,  participatory accountability, evidence gathering and campaign/mobilization initiatives.
