Nutrition at the Forefront: Mobilizing Civil Society for WHA77

Scheduled from May 27 to June 1, 2024, the 77th World Health Assembly (WHA77) provides a pivotal opportunity for nutrition advocates to promote the integration of comprehensive nutrition policies into global health agendas. Addressing critical issues such as universal health coverage, non-communicable diseases, and climate change impacts, WHA77 invites SUN Civil Society Alliances (CSAs) to elevate nutrition’s role in health and development.

This brief offers a roadmap for CSAs, detailing strategic objectives, key agenda points, and actionable advocacy opportunities. It equips participants with essential messages and tailored social media content designed to amplify the urgency of integrating nutrition at all levels of policy making. As the assembly approaches, CSAs are encouraged to actively engage with governments and global leaders, share expert insights, and champion robust nutrition policies that support sustainable development goals.

Engagement doesn’t stop at discussion; it’s also about visibility. This brief provides key messages and suggested social media posts to help CSAs raise awareness about the critical issues at stake. Through targeted communication, we can ensure that nutrition secures a prominent place in health policies worldwide. Please read on for detailed insights into the SUN key objectives, the provisional WHA agenda, and upcoming side events aimed at strengthening the integration of nutrition in health systems globally.
